League game vs friendly game vs scrimmage in PA West
The PA West Youth Playing Rules (current season) will be helpful here. PA West Age Group Commissioners can be found on league district pages. For WHYSA, that is District 1 (East).
There are three types of games according to PA West rules: scrimmage, friendly, and league.
Scrimmage: A scrimmage is a “practice game played between two PA West Soccer registered teams with no referees.” Age Group Commissioners (AGC) don’t need to be notified. There are no Game Day Rosters (GDR) because the two teams are getting together informally and playing.
Friendly: A friendly game is "arranged by the coach and does not affect the outcome of any league." See 4.4 FRIENDLY game in the PA West rules.
Friendly games can be arranged between coaches or Clubs. All required procedures must be followed before these games can be played, with single exception of requiring team rosters. Teams can be composed of players possessing currently valid player pass from same club. Any red cards issued in these games will carry over to the next scheduled league game. These games cannot be used to wipe out a red card so the player/coach can play in the next scheduled game.
AGC’s need to be notified of friendlies. A friendly does not have to be entered in the system, but both teams need player passes. With digital GDRs with player passes, the game can be scheduled in the system but not scored.
League Game: A league game is a “game scheduled by the Playing Division/District/League Director. These are required games.” League games count in the standings.
